TIMBERLAND LAUNCHES ECO-FRIENDLY COLLECTION
Timberland launches eco-friendly collection including footwear, backpacks and apparel. The collection is made from recycled plastic bottles. Having been collected in Haiti by locals, this project provided jobs to over 1300 people. Over 700,000 plastic bottles were recycled in the process.
It is always nice to see when big brands step up to tackle such causes. As they not only provide quality products to their loyal customers but also help the environment. We have seen Adidas done this with their shoe collection made of recycled material collected from Ocean back in 2015.
While it is a step in the right direction, we wish and hope that this become more of a regular thing instead of just a one off collection. Global warming and waste product disposal is a real problem. Such collections prove that the waste product can be a useful and cheap raw material to create new products. Imagine if more and more brands jump on to this band Wagon and start using recycled stuff. We could reduce the waste fills to a considerable amount. It also provides jobs to local communities and help reduce the poverty and hunger in the deprived areas of the world.
Back to Timberland‘s latest collection which includes backpacks, eco-friendly footwear and apparel, all made just from recycled plastic bottles. Timberland sourced the material by Thread International, a fabric manufacturer committed to helping save the environment. As you would expect, Timberland has not compromised on the quality. All the stuff produced is of premium quality.
Even though the progress in the eco-friendly market is slow, but it surely is taking its momentum with more and more start up businesses finding ways to contribute to the environment while producing quality and eye pleasing products. Many brands are even producing eyewear, handbags and wallets made from recycled material.
