SUMMER TIME IN LONDON IS NEVER BORING
Summer time in London is never boring. If you have time, which seems to be increasingly becoming a rare commodity, then there is plenty to do. Or if you prefer, you do not have to do anything at all. Just visit one of the spectacular parks, lay down on the grass and let the sun do its magic. If you happen to live in a flat and miss the BBQ spirit, worry not because there are so many parks that allow doing just that. If the sun gets a bit too much for you then just head to one of the local restaurants to satiate your hunger.
Hackney Wick has to be one of my favorite places in London. It has that rawness and charm that I do not feel in places like Shoreditch even though I love hanging out there too. Alas, it seems that it probably will not stay there in the shape and form that I love for longer. The flashy new buildings are creeping in and more and more places are being taken over by developers. I was saddened to see an old beautiful skate park replaced by concrete and other building material. We will have another sparkling building there soon. But then again, perhaps that is how it works. The artists find a cheap area to live in, eventually, it gets trendy and then moves in the builders. But surely the artist community will find another place to populate.
STOUR SPACE is one of such places that are still defying the builders, perhaps not for long. It’s a space for artists with an exhibition and performance place. Every time you go there, you will find something interesting happening. It has got that hippy feel to it that makes you at ease. There is also a two-storied cafe there that serves drinks and snacks. While the indoor spaces have their own charm, you would perhaps prefer to set next to the canal in the sunshine. You will find a lot of people on their laptops working. If you work for yourself, its one of the best places to call your “office”.
After getting some extra dosage of the sunshine (not that I need it, I am tan enough) we head to one of our new favorite vegan place FED BY WATER on Kingsland High Street. Delicious food, big portions, a cool relaxing place and friendly staff does not come with a massive price tag. You do not have to be vegan to enjoy the place, it’s just delicious food and a nice place to hang out with friends.
